How to add a drop shadow to a pan/crop flying vid?

Hi - does anyone know how I can add a drop shadow to a pip-style flying video box in V8?

I'm just doing a basic 2 moving pip videos with pan/crop over a background; any ideas on how to easily add a drop shadow to this? The hard way would be to create a gaussian-blurred grey png of the same size and put it 'under' the source/moving video clip, though hopefully there's an easier way - anyone know how?

thanks,

Ken

Have you tried the shadow under Track Motion?

I'm trying to achieve a similar drop shadow with the flying photos veg but I'm not seeing a drop shadow option in track motion. I'm brand new to track motion so forgive me if it's staring me right in the face.

With track motion window open, at the bottom where you see the timeline is 2D shadow and Glow.

Dave,

Thanks for the quick response. I see what you are talking about when I open a new track. However, when opening the existing tracks (again I'm using the sample veg posted for flying photos) there is no shadow option to the left of the timeline. These tracks appear to be parent/child I think. Could that have something to do with it?

I've been using event pan/crop instead of track motion; I'll try using track motion instead, since that does have a drop shadow feature ... is there any such feature for event pan/crop? I've been using that to do motion tracks, sounds like I've been using the wrong function for moving pips...

YOu can still use Pan Crop and just use the Shadow from Track Motion. You don't need to do the move with Track Motion.

But remember, the shadow will be added to anything on that track.

Thanks, Dave - I didn't know that, I'll give it a try. Much appreciated.
