For some reason, even when I select 1x burn speed when inserting 2x media, it still burns at 2x. I think this is causing subtle sync errors with my old DVD player.
I have a Pioneer A04 with 1.40 firmware. Anyone else experience this? Is this a probelm with the drive or DVD Architect?
There is a problem with either the media, the bitrate, or the firmware. Firmware 1.31 is your best bet. Read here about flashing back to this firmware: http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=abc1717fe8e42e4091e7689640dd9fbb
I burn at 2x and the discs play in older DVD players they aren't even supposed to play in. I use Fuji 2x DVD-R which I buy at BJ's Wholesale Club at 5/$11.99. They are made in Japan by Tayo Yuden.
Pioneer brand, Apple brand, and Verbatim brands all work flawlessly as well.
At what bitrate are you encoding? Older units sometimes have trouble keeping up with a fast data stream.
I use all kinds of media -- pioneer, apple, meritline, memorex, accu.... and they all work fine, but they're all 1x media. Recently I bought some inkjet printable 2x Pioneer and Mitsui (some of each, though supposedly the same disc) and now I'm getting skip errors in my DVD player. I think this is due to the 2x burn. So, again, is there anyway to force 1x burn?
