How to change the folder VEGAS looks for proxies in

I'm trying to help a user on Facebook with an issue... they have 2 hard drives that are clones of each other, one is a backup.

This user is having to deal with VEGAS re-creating proxies for their nested projects that they have already rendered on the main drive, whenever they load a project up on the backup drive.

Copying the .sfp0 file to the backup drive does not help.

How can we tell VEGAS to search for the proxies on the backup drive instead? Is this possible?

Proxies are always stored in the same folder as the media. The location of that folder doesn't matter.

This doesn't seem to be helping them, they say VEGAS rebuilds the nested timeline proxies each time regardless.

I was talking about proxies for media, that's probably another interpretation of proxies than using the term proxies for nested timelines.

The project on the backup drive references all the source files on the primary drive, no? Nothing has told the backup project the new names of the source files. Not a great idea editing on the backup drive, if it is truly a "backup drive".

However, "Save As" can save a copy of the project and copy the source files with it (a checkbox "[ ] Copy media with project"). I don't know if it would do that recursively for nested projects.
