How to configure the default audio Track FX

I was desperately trying to configure / add / remove / change / disable the default Audio Track FX in Vegas and was only moments from posting in this forum when I discovered at least one way of doing it. Maybe there's an easier way others could share with everyone. Otherwise, here's how I did it.

While in Vegas, hold down SHIFT on your keyboard while you navigate with your mouse into Options > Preferences...

Go to the Internal tab, this is a new "secret" tab that can only be accessed with the SHIFT trick.

Find Insert Effect 1 through Insert Effect 4, these are the default effects, by default there are three, and you can have up to four.

Replace all the fields with {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}, by default the Insert Effect 4 field is already like this.

Now, when you create new audio tracks they will load effect-less.

It's probably best not to adjust these hidden preferences when there is an officially defined way of acheivng the same end.

This is described in the manual and help file in the section entitled "Setting Default Track Properties". Put simply, you configure a track so that its characteristics are those you would like to use as the default for any new tracks, then right-click on the track header and choose "Set Default Track Properties...", then tick the boxes whose defaults you want to change (in this case the "TrackFX" box) and click OK to make the current track settings the default from now on.

(You can undo the changes and restore the original defaults using the "Restore original defaults" box if you change your mind about the default settings later.)
