Google is your friend. The reason that I very very rarely ask questions here and in other forums is not because I know everything, but because I google before I ask.
I asked because I visited the same sites as you did. I did Google. The first link you showed me is of course what came to mind the first time. If I do things like that I have to make as much text blocks as I have letters, which sucks if you consider how much text I have. The second link only is a Sony Vegas 8 option, not Vegas 9. The Vegas 8 option is pretty handy because it saves a lot of time. So, after I Googled I decided to come to the Sony Vegas forums.
I did a pretty cheesy one once, just to see what it looked like. Say you want the word "HELLO" typed out. I did it in Word and did a screen capture of the progress.
H (screen capture)
HE (screen capture)
HEL (screen capture)
HELL (screen capture)
HELLO (screen capture)
Then take your 5 screen caps and throw them in the time line at 1 second each, with the sound effect of a typewriter keyclick under each of the 5 stills.
Looked cheesy but it worked.
Never worry about asking questions here. For every quesion you can think of, I'm sure there is 10 people wondering the same thing.
Vegas's title generator is a nightmare in many respects. Please tell the sony suits, that by far the easiest method is to use ... Windows Movie Maker... Just render to dv-avi and import it into Vegas.
