How to deinterlace?

Somebody told me to deinterlace the video before rendering it to Divx. How do I do that? I'm using Divx Pro 5.02.

To deinterlace, pick your deinterlace method from project properties, advanced, deinterlace method, and set your project to progressive, or use a progressive render format. All interlaced source footage will then be deinterlaced.
