How to edit a title after you've built it?

Figured it out! To edit an existing title already in the timeline, click the "generated media" icon (filmstrip with square on top) embedded at the extreme-right of the text-lane in the timeline. (Why simply double-clicking the desired text-lane isn't assigned to this function, I don't know.)

Usability issue when expanding the timeline: Also, when you click the "+" symbol to expand the timeline horizontally, why the does the timeline not anchor itself to the left (you have to keep manually scrolling left to see your populated lanes)? As wonderful as Vegas is, these seem like two glaring usability issues (the latter one in particular).

Hello

I'm a new user to.

Go to the title on the time line. Scroll so you can see it. There is an icon for 'generated media'. Left click and you are in the title box. Alter as you wish.

A minor usability issue: When clicking the generated media icon, it replaces the preview screen in the upper-right (instead of just replacing the current media generator screen in the upper-left). Then I have to un-dock the media generator window (hold CONTROL + drag bottom tab) I just created to see the preview monitor screen again.

Oh well, super-happy I know how to edit my titles now! Even with all these nits, Vegas is still the easiest-to-use NLE on the planet! And so powerful. I had Vegas back in the early 2000s and loved it (edited my short film "Runway" with it). But then I switched the entire household to macOS machines.

Really missed Vegas and am so pleased Magix GmbH picked up the ball and continued its development. So I just bought a used HP server (Xeon 3.5GHz quad-core/32GB ECC RAM/1TB SSD) just to be able to run Vegas again, and it runs great on this machine!

Planning to add either a Radeon RX 5700 8GB XT or GeForce RTX 2060 8GB Super GPU, two of the best-performing GPUs for Vegas Pro 18, according to the guys at TechGage (read their excellent article on Vegas Pro 18 + GPU-benchmarks here).

So glad to be back editing in Vegas!

You're really knowledgeable. Like the idea of your upgrade with the GPU. My system is almost the same as yours, so I'll be interested in hearing when you do.

I'm completely new to Vegas Movie Studio. Been at it 2 weeks now. Takes the pain out of lockdown. At my age I'm keeping the isolation going.

When you stretch the timeline, it will move in relation to where the cursor is, it always centers the cursor, and stretches out (or in) on both sides of the cursor. Move the cursor to where you want the stretch to happen.

Also, you can easily stretch the timeline in our out by dragging on the end of the scroll bar, or using the scroll wheel on your mouse if it has one.

Anthony: Thanks for the tips! Didn't know about the alternate methods. I just bought this Keymecher Mano wired + wireless trackpad from Amazon for $39.99. Works pretty good, though it does have some unexpected gesture-behaviors (e.g., you have to double-tap to select/move the timeline-marker) so it takes a bit of experimenting to get things to do what you want and behaves somewhat differently than a mouse. If getting one of these, I recommend the version that's both wired and wireless.

Also bought this Seenda backlit wireless keyboard with a 2,000mA battery which looks/works great for $37.99 (less $6.00 with coupon), also from Amazon. Make sure to get the "full-size" Seenda since it has a larger battery capacity than the identical looking Seenda keyboard which has a smaller battery. It's a quite a good-looking keyboard (as is the trackpad) with well-lit keys, with three selectable intensities, and has a pretty nice key-feel. Plus, it's really quiet! Where I'm editing isn't very well lit, so this is a must-have for me.

Really enjoying myself, Saw your Green thingy video. Didn't understand it. But.. Have back engineered and have been able to create a facsimile of my own, A track of clips, 1908 film and sepia. Nowhere near as good as yours. But been great fun.

Haha! That's great Ross! I'm planning to shoot some footage specifically for those effects. It's basically supposed to be glitchy helmut-cam video like in Alien. So I need to shoot more "nightvision-ey" kind of footage that better suits the effects. I was just eager to just capture some footage of a pretty girl (she's an on-camera correspondent for another TV show) to play with in Vegas and Cassie was kind enough to model for me while we were both working at another event.
