How to get 2nd camera on the timeline?

I have been using Vegas so far with just one camera. I am ready to try my hand at editing a 2 camera shoot, and have read a lot of the posts about this. I feel pretty comfortable with it. However, I do not know how to get the second camera's footage on the timeline in a separate track. I'm sure it's an easy thing to do, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just capture the footage and place it on the same timeline. One thing you should do though, is make a way to sync each camera. A tone recorded at the same time, clapper board, something. That will make it easier.

When you drag the second camera clip to the timeline, place it down either below or above the existing track, and two new tracks will automatically be created.

Another way is to first create new Video and Audio Tracks (Ctrl Shift Q and Ctrl Q) then lift the second camera clip to there.

In case you don't have an audio clapper or visual flash, simply look for a distinctive audio wave form in both tracks to line up. Listening will tell you if they're exactly together. If you hear phasing, you can nudge one clip either way using Numerical 4 or 6 keys until the phasing stops.

Thanks for the response, it was right there all the time. I was confused because I have multiple events on each camera. I will capture #1 and place all the contents on the timeline in sequence, then repeat for #2. Makes sense now. For this I will not have to worry about sync problems, as this is just closeup shots on one camera showing detail of the scene.

Thanks again for the response.

just completed 2 camera wedding disco section. I used the flashing lights as a "synch" - this was spot on . . Used Excalibur "2 Camera wizard" for trannis that worked on Markers . . Client was ecstatic, Director was stunned, my partner thought it was pretty neat . . . me too!
