Press CTRL + SHIFT when Vegas is booting. This will reset ALL of Vegas parameters back to default.

A less drastic option than resetting all your settings is to hold the SHIFT key while selecting the Options->Preferences menu. This will add a new tab on the top right labeled “Internal”. Select this and at the bottom of the dialog is an entry field labeled “Show only prefs containing:”. Type “prom” to filter for the word “prompt”. There should be one entry left in the list labeled “Do not prompt for record files path”. Yours probably says TRUE. Just change it to FALSE and press the OK button.

Just be VERY, VERY aware that if playing in the internal settings, you can completely screw Vegas. That's why it's hidden, and that's why it's not mentioned in the owners manual. Pretty easy to end up needing to fully reset or reinstall Vegas.

SPOT,

I couldn't agree more. I should have added, "Use at your own risk", this is an undocumented feature. (but good to know in a pinch) ;-)
