The NewBlue ST effects are installed as part of the Titler Pro installation.

Do you mean "Sampler Pack"? or do you mean "Starter Pack". I'm guessing you mean "Starter Pack" which is installed when you install Titler Pro.

Ok so how does one get rid of it?

Uninstall Titler Pro.

Starter Pack is ANNOYING to me as well!
It doubles up on some of the FX I have and I too would LOVE to get rid of it.

Ahh, so I did it right, I dumped Titler Pro (I found it frustrating to use).
Thanks for the input!

as much as i admire edward, and nb, i think the FORCED bundling of starter pack a very, very bad move. if nothing else it should be uninstallable on its own.
NormanPCN wrote on 10/19/2013, 10:35 PM
The titler really does need to have some effects and transitions to be a more complete titler out of the box.

NewBlue made the effects/transitions also available to the host NLE in addition to the titler. Really they did not have to do that and I guess that they were hoping people would use them and maybe look into their effect/transition packs.

I think you can uninstall the starter pack from Vegas but leave it in Titler Pro. The OFX files are the program files\common files\. The Titler pro install directory seems to have its own copy of the starter pack OFX files. This is only and guess from a quick exam of the installations.

Actually, it's free effects included with the package. I'm sure I could help you get rid of only Sampler Pack and leave Titler Pro installed. Just contact me and we'll see what we can find.

Oh boy... <sigh>
I just checked Vegas and looked at the 3rd party Fx.
NB Starter Pack is still showing there although one (slightly) good thing is I can click on an effect and add it to the chain, however nothing happens when I click OK on the plug in chooser pop-up.
And then when I reopen the pop-up again there is nothing in the chain.
So something got deleted when I uninstalled Titler Pro.
I would really like to remove all traces of NB from my system.
Thanks!

ps Jetdv - the starter pack is a time limited demo - not what I would call free Fx - alls I got recently was a pop-up which said something like "the demo has expired, tough titty". Not to be a grouch on this but I do not instal time limited demos unless I am truly interested in buying them. Makes sense to me :-)

Vegas sometimes does not properly keep up with effects install/uninstalls and does not add/remove something from its list(s).

If you delete the plugin_manager_cache.bin file in the appdata folder, Vegas will rebuild that cache file and IF the uninstall of NB worked it should disappear from all the effects lists.

The hidden folder is...
c:/users/username/appdata/local/sony/vegaspro/12.0/

The starter pack is not a time demo if you register NB titler pro. The two use the same registration key. At least that is how it has worked for me.
bdg wrote on 10/21/2013, 9:45 PM
Where to start...
OK, I must have registered the NB titler because I could use it, however the starter pack... Oh wait, that's right it ASKED for one of two things 1) me to buy it. or 2) the registration number.
But of course I had no way of knowing it was the same number as for the titler.

So...
I have uninstalled the titler but now I have an error every time I load a project (that used to use the NB titler but no longer does) saying the plug in no longer exists.
Yes, well, HULLO!
I've tried saving the project and reopening it but same thing every time.
Aarggh Billy!

So I deleted the pluging_manager_cache.bin and looked to see if the starter pack had disappeared. No way Joesey. The ghost of NB lives on.
Well, darn it all. What now?
I'm not in the mood for uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas.

If anyone at NB is reading this you should know I am rather peeved with you chaps.
ps NormanPCN - thankyou for your help!

jetdv is NB AFAIK. If you need NB support to fix something with uninstall then contact their support. They are very quick to respond.

This forum is not even an official Sony support forum. It's really just a forum for us users to help each other, hosted by Sony.

Try Tools, Clean Project Media from the Vegas menu. Sounds like you removed the NB event from the timeline but it's still a part of your Project Media. Note this will remove all unused media from your Project Media, so if you have media in there and you want to keep it in the pool, open Project Media and remove the offending event manually by right-clicking it and choosing remove.

Kimberly

The Starter Pack is NOT "time limited". It will remain fully functional - without a watermark - as long as you are using the version installed with the OpenFX version of Titler Pro 1. It must be the OpenFX version.
jetdv wrote on 10/22/2013, 11:16 AM
Without knowing exactly which Titler Pro versions you've installed, it's hard to say why they would still be there. One thing you could do:

Install and uninstall Titler Pro 1
Install and uninstall Titler Pro 2

Now there should be no starter pack at all.

You might also look in c:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlue

Delete the "Starter Pack" folder there.

Lovely, of course that worked, Thankyou Kimberly!
