How to get "undersample rate" into "Process&q

Hi!

I'm batch converting lots of files using Production Assistant and Vegas Pro 9.0a 64 bit version in Vista 64 bit.

I choose my source files/folder
I chose my target folder
I chose the file formate/template

I now go into "Process" and there I see I can have Production Assistant perform bacth processing ina few different ways. I see for instance I can set "Playback Rate".

Now I want to to set "Undersample Rate". This is what I want. I want each file I conmvert to be processed with "Undersanple Rate" of 0.999.

How do I get "Undersample Rate" to show up as a processing alternative in Production Assistant please?

Best & thanks in advance for your help!
Lars

Currently "undersample rate" is not one of the processes but we will certainly consider adding this to our future feature list as a candidate. If you have any other ideas about processes you'd like to see in a future release, please let us know.

OK... "we will certainly consider adding this to our future feature list as a candidate" doesn't sound like something that will solve my batch convert work right now ;).... However, maybe there are other ways for me to do what I want?

- 5D2 file ( 30 fps )
- Wanting to play back as a 29.97 fps file
- As a target file I want Sony MXF which can not be 30 fps, must be 29.97

How else can I use Production Assistant to achieve true 29.97 MXF files from a 30 fps 5D2 file?

Best
Lars

PS.
Why not design PA so that the user can customize what process he wants in the "processes" tab?

You don't need Production Assistant for that at all. Just make sure the 5D2 footage is correctly recognized as 30p by Vegas and when you render to 29.976 Vegas is smart enough to do the conversion for you. If you see some unwanted frame blending, just right-click the events and in the Properties choose Disable resample. That's all you need to do.

Johnny,

OK, but can I have Production Aassistant to batch convert 298 files for me, just having the MOV 5D2 files as "source" and then "MXF 29.97" as target? How can I then from within PA make sure there is no frame blending done?

I want to avoid having los of MOV clips on the time line in Vegas and be forced to create regions to batch convert. I want a source folder and a target folder and have it process my MOV files in the correct way to obtain correct 29.97 MXF footage...

best & thanks for your advice,
Lars

Hi John,

I recently used PA to batch convert MTS to DV for a client. I had one set of about 30 clips that were shot with the wrong white balance. If it is technically possible, it would be great if we could add one or more Fx's to the virtual PA project and have those applied to each conversion. I can think of many other situations where this would be useful (e.g., Unsharp settings, convert to b/w, etc.).

Hi Jerry,

Excellent idea! I've added it to my list of feature requests for future versions. ;-)
