How to get Vegas to recognize a Sony non-DV device

Trying to use a Sony Media DV Hardware Codec Converter (DVMC-DA2) to capture from the DVD player or VCR. Sound comes thru, but I see the video for a split second and then it asks me to connect a device with the blue screen. Is there any option I can change to get it to work? It works just fine with Windows Media Player but not Vegas Video 3.0. Is it because its not a DV camera? Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make it work. We do not have enough firewire dazzles for all our computers and that is the only thing that seems to work with Vegas. The old USB Dazzles we have don't even work with XP, so this is our last option! Thanks.

Go in the preferences, and uncheck the "Enable DV Device Control" It might work. When you have that checked it tries to connect to whatever you have connected and control it, if it can't then you will have problems capturing, but if you uncheck it, it won't try to control it and should display whatever video is coming through.

It's in the Preferences in the Capture program, not the Vegas program. Under the General tab.

What capture program? Do you mean in the XP OS?

doh! got to excited too quick. I can hit the Capture Video button but it just comes up with a window that says nothing is captured. It can capture stills though. What setting may be off?
