How to Inform TV of Aspect Ratio

Most TVs now include something that automatically can determine the Aspect Ratio when the media includes this information for the TV.

When the provided media does not inform TV of it's Aspect Ratio, the user must manually override the TV default choice when it results in unintended verticle crops or stretches to fit to the TVs Aspect Ratio.

Does either Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Version 11.0 (Build 322) or DVD Architect Studio Version 5.0 (Build 161) provide the means to inform the Aspect Ratio so the user’s TV can automatically determine the Aspect Ratio in the media (in my case on a DVD)?

If so, can you point me to a source to learn how to do this?

Non-smart TVs don't play video, the devices connected to them do. So it's the device's job to read the aspect ratio correctly. However, this is a very hit and miss thing, especially for the AVI format. Your best bet is to always export at 1:1 aspect ratio and use a multimedia device to display those (e.g. AppleTV, Roku, etc). For DVDs, it's the DVD player's job to read the DVD correctly. TVs will automatically pick their "standard" size to display, and some TVs have a "dot by dot" mode (where there's no overscan).
