How to keyboard shortut alpha straight-unmatted?

Quick question, does anyone know if it's possible w/keyboard shortcuts (or is a script needed) to be able to change the property of a video clip on the V7/V8 timeline to make it alpha/straight/unmatted?

I ask, because I have so much footage that's keyed, it's a hassle to always do the "vegas 2 step" to have to click on the input file properties and drop-down box to manually assign it to be straight/unmatted alpha...

is there a way to make this a shortcut, eg Ctrl- (something) once a clip is on the timeline, to save a handful of key entries each time, for every clip?

thx,

k

I can't answer about a direct Vegas shortcut, but over the years I've been using Macro Express [macex.com] extremely successfully to automate processes and create keyboard shortcuts to invoke the macros. It's very powerful and flexible, so far I haven't come across a situation that it couldn't handle.

Try the Change Alpha Channel script at VASST.
Note: This was written in the Sonic Foundry days so you'll need to change the line that says import SonicFoundry.Vegas; to import Sony.Vegas;

How long can it really take, click and click.
We need a script for that?

Well, I'm guessing, but a functioning script might mean one could select a whole bunch and fire the script, done! Now that's gotta be quick? The other thing, Sherman, is that a script would mean not needing to take one's eye of the ball.

There's one in the free scripts section of my website that will change the alpha channel mode for all items in the Project Media.

It's easy for a script to change this setting for one or more events as well. And the script could be assigned to a keypress or put on the toolbar.

Hi Ed, sounds great- thanks re the script! Should be a great timesaver...
it's a hassle to have to manually set alpha for every alpha clip every single
time for every single projects... hundreds, eg swipes from DJ and other content
like that.. I'll check out the script - much appreciated!

Checking in:

can't find it though.. I'll keep looking.. thanks.
