How to make a scrolling typewrite effect

Hello there.

I'm using Vegas 22 and I want to make a (sorry if it doesn't make sense) a scrolling typewriter character effect like on the VDS 840 CG here is a video on what I'm talking about if you can see at 0:12 the text scrolling is also doing a loading character effect. And I'm trying to replicate that. If you can send me a solution, that would be great.

Thanks ;)

I'd love to say that Titler & Text has a preset called Title 04 that can be used for typewriter effects, but it gets complicated when you say it needs to scroll...

Although you can use the X position in Title & Text to do scrolling animation, the scrolling animation must take longer than the typewriter animation, that is, Scrolling time > Typing time. This is unlikely to be achieved in Title & Text, because the so-called Animation effect in Title & Text can only be the same length as the duration of the generator, i.e. Typing time = Duration >= Scrolling time, unless you put a lot of space after your text to cheat the typing effect, which is not easy to control.

For any complex text animation, I recommend using ProType Titler, an old text generator tool. While it has a certain learning threshold and was listed as a discontinued feature in recent releases, I feel it's still one of the best solutions for advanced text animation in VEGAS Pro. You can easily make typewriter effects and freely control the state of the animation with it.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 248 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

You can disable looping and extend the text event, so typing text becomes static after the 10 sec default duration of the typing effect. Scrolling can meanwhile be done with pan/crop tool or an transition.

Another interesting idea is to create a media generator that is wide enough to hold the entire subtitle content. For example, if your project is 1920x1080, you can create a 7680x1080 size Title & Text that displays the entire subtitle content. You use Titler 04 to make typewriter effects, and then you use Pan/Crop to scroll it. Similarly, the scrolling animation needs to be longer than the duration of this Title & Text generator. At this point, you must cancel the loop of the event to avoid repeating the typewriter animation.
