How to Make Subclips Show in New Computer?

Hi,

I created a backup of my entire OS drive and installed a fresh copy of Windows. All of my media is on a separate drive entirely and was not touched. I copied every file under the User directory into my new installation, but when I opened my project all of my subclips were missing. The bins are still there, and the clips used in the timeline are there, but nothing else. I went to the directory where my media files are and all the .sfk0-2 subclip files are still there. How do I get Movie Studio to recognize them? It took several hours to clip the entire 2 hour video I'm editing, I had no idea this would be an issue 😖

Sfk files are the waveform files for your subclips. There aren't any video files created for my subclips. Your project just probably references the original video file and its in and out points. I assume this info is contained in the project vf file. Consequently I'm puzzled as to why they don't appear when you open your project.

I wonder if copying your User files has caused the problem although it seems unlikely. My only suggestion is to reset VMS to give it a clean start. A nuisance if you have many personal preferences but it has solved problems.

I will say it's better to restore the former OS and finish the project. once all done and clear step ahead to the new installation.

I was lucky to have OS backup just before VMS new brutal builds that affected my project, I restore and never update VMS.
