How to manipulate a picture in Vegas 4.0

I am a novice at this and any help would be appreciated. I have a tv program and I want to put the show's logo on the bottom left of the screen. I have brought the picture into it's own track but I cannot get it sized right nor can I get it moved where I want.

I just want the picture to be in the bottom corner and run the length of the program. I cannot get the picture quite small enough nor will it move past the center width of the screen. Again, any help is appreciated.

Joel.

You can size it either with the event Pan/Crop tool or with Track Motion. (Pan /Crop is better). To place it, use Track Motion.

BTW, you can adjust its transparency by dragging down from then top edge of the event.

Joel,
Open Pan/Crop on the picture.
Now go to the Workspace setting, and zoom out so the picture is very small in the preview window.
Expand the border of the pan/crop tool and you'll see your image shrink.
The tricky part comes in the fact that you need to treat the Pan/Crop tool like a mirror. In other words, if you want the image to go right, move the Pan/Crop border to the left. If you want it to go down, move the border up. This should help you place the image exactly.
If it doesn't, then use the Track Motion tool to make any final adjustments.
Pan/Crop doesn't affect the resolution of the image when you use it in this manner, whereas Track motion will. Therefore, use Track Motion to place an image that you don't want to resize, and use Pan/Crop when you need to resize.
Make sense?

Hi Gary,

I used the Pan/Crop tool to get it where it is but the picture is too big. I need to make it smaller because right now it is taking up too much of the picture. Maybe I'm not using the tool in the correct way.

I placed a still in it's own track and then went to the Pan/Crop tool. The picture was auto placed in the center. I grabbed the corners, etc... to change the size the best that I could and then moved the frame (I guess) but it wouldn't place it where I wanted it. I am at a loss.

You mentioned a 'Track Motion.' What is that and where do I find it??

I truly appreciate your help. Thank you.

Joel.

Thank you.

Look on the left hand side of your timeline, at the track header. You'll see two white "boxes" laid over each other like a picture in picture.
Click it and a dialog that looks similar to the Pan/Crop will open up. In here, you can move the image around to where you want it to be.
As mentioned in my previous post, use Pan/Crop to resize the image, and use Track Motion to place it where you want it.
