How to move the cursor 1 frame at a time?

How do I move the cursor exactly 1 frame at a time? Ideally, I want to press the right cursor button and move the cursor by a single frame. It seems to be locked into how much I'm zoomed into the timeline, but I need frame perfect selection for a piece I'm working on.

Can I only do this if I've zoomed in fully? I'm hoping I've missed something obvious :)

Hi,

Yes, very obvious, press F9 to advance one frame forward, and F3 for one frame backward - independent of timeline zoom - independent of wich track is selected or not - and independent on the numlock status.

You can customize your keyboard shortcuts, if you don't like these defaults...

Using numeric keypad keys 4 & 6;

- a selected clips moves one frame at a time if the numlock is on (not the cursor)
- the cursor moves if the numlock is off

Experiment - there is a myriad of interesting keyboard shortcuts that you can learn each day :) A good idea is to print out the keyboard shortcuts and study them... Even if I have used Vegas since version 6, I still have a lot to learn... And the nice thing is - this is not due to the program complexity, its due to its versatility :)

I've always just zoomed right it but, today, it dawned on me that I must be missing something obvious and more elegant.
