How to Pause/Still a video

A newbie question. How do your Pause or still a video. I have Vegas 4.0 version.

Example: Playback rate 1.000 > Slow motion 0.500 > Still video

What I have been doing is at the end of slow motion clip I capture/copy image from the video preview pane. The problem is that the image captured somehow changes in ratio and I can fix it by adjusting the size. Is there another way to still the video clip?

Hope I make sense. Thanks.

Lots of posts about this here... a search will no doubt bring up more answers.

When you capture that still... it should be with the preview window set as Best/Full - anything else will likely result in lower resolution/poor quality snapshots of the frame. In essense there should be nothing wrong with creating a still in this way... but there are many other ways.

Have you checked out the Velocity Envelope feature? That is a common way to vary the playback speed across the length of a clip (you can set playback speeds at any point from -100% to 0 to +300%. Look at the menu option to Insert/Video envelope/Event Velocity or right click a video event and choose "Insert/Velocity Envelope"
