How to remove text feom video?

I have a video that was already rendered to mpeg. I would like to remove
one phrase from the video. It is white text with a thin black border.

I don't have the original footage. How can I do this? I tried white and black chroma key but it also affected the rest of the video. Do I use 2 tracks with
the cookie cutter?

Please help. The video DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT!

use the virtualdubmod logo away filter - works very well ...

Depends on how much camera movement you have.
A tripod shot would be ideal.

Take a still of image - bring into photoshop, and rumberstamp out the text as best as possible... Bring the edited still back into vegas, put on track above your video track - Add a cookie cutter FX to still image & turn up the feather setting on cookie cutter..

You might have to key frame track motion on the still image track a bit..

no won't be perfect - but should cover it up.
