How to Render to Quicktime Above 4096 pixels

Paulo-Felberg wrote on 12/28/2023, 10:14 AM

Hello.
I really need to output high res formats, wider than 4096 pixels, with alpha channel from Vegas Pro.
As a VJ, I am used to non standard, not traditional big pixel formats and no matter what I do, It seems that I can´t render above 4096 pixels.
Quicktime is preferable, but at this time, any format that accept alpha channel is welcome.
I did try Apple Pro Res but Vegas found wrong parameters.
Any help, other than exporting a PNG sequence is very welcome.

Thanks

Paulo

If you don't mind the file size, you could try MagicYUV.

Looks like Apple Pro Res has a 5120 x 2160 limitation.

I couldn´t render Apple Pro Res 4224 x 768 due to a Vegas error message: "Invalid Argument was Specified".
Yes, Magic YUV was a go. Now I need to check it for conversion to Quicktime DXV, which is final codec I need, actually.

Thank you

I was able to render 4224 x 768 using a customized ProResXQ template.

@Paulo-Felberg

The free Voukoder plugin conforms to your project resolution, and will render 8192x8192 ProRes 4444 (10 bit alpha). I just tried a short alpha render.

Yes, I could customize Pro Res but just got errors.
I need 30fps, Progressive, Square Pixels and Alpha. It starts rendering and instantly presents the error described above.

Again, thank you.

Let us know your outcome. My i5 is too weak to do anything meaningful at that scale.

Ok. Voukoder was a little bit tricky at first to install, find and first usage, but it did work indeed.
I was able to render to Pro Res with the desired output resolution.
But I am somewhat disappointed on Vegas for that.
