How to replace video file in existing proect?

I’m working on my first DVD project that uses a scene selection menu; it actually started as an experimental project so I could figure out how to create the darn thing, and I was using a temporary video file as the guinea pig since I hadn’t yet rendered the video file I intended to ultimately use. So, I now have the menu thing figured out (I think) and now I want to delete the temporary video file and bring in the ‘real’ file and start assigning the different scenes (30 of them!).

But, I can’t figure out how to do this. Currently, all 30 scene selections point to the temporary file (double-clicking any of the scenes on any of the menus shows the temp video on the timeline). All I want to do is (simply?) replace the temp video file with the video I really want to use.

You can change the button properties as follows. Hope this does the trick for you:

Okay, great, that works. Thanks.

Now, is there any way to save myself from having to change 30 individual scene properties, or should I just get to work and chock it up to experience?

If you click on MEDIA, you can select a new video and audio source. But in your case, I would start from scratch. You will learn more that way.

If you delete your original source file and then open the project you will be prompted for a source file. Select the option to choose a new location or replacement file. This will maintain the whole menu structure, although you will have to move chapter points and probably adjust the end point of each event.

If you've set your scenes with markers in Vegas when you rendered, once you've replaced your video & audio files, just click on 'load markers'.
