How to: Reverse Video and Capture Still Images

Like the subject says...I've looked in the online help, but can't seem to find any way of doing this, although I'm sure its easier than I can figure out:

1. I want to take a clip of video and display it in reverse motion in my edited event.

2. I also want to capture a still image from my video and perhaps save it as a jpg? gif? or whatever file format so that I can open it in something like adobe photoshop...

Hiyah! Easy-Peasy!

1 - Use a Velocity Envelope VE.

VE to Clip or Event - Highlight the clip, go>Insert>Video Envelopes>Event Velocity. You will now see a thin Green line inserted across the centre of the clip. This is a velocity control. Grab hold of this green line by resting your mouse cursor over hold down the Left Button, and pull this green line down. You will see "numbers" appearing going down from 100% [ normal rate ] to 0%. This makes your clip go a % slower than 100%. Once you reach below 0% and go below - ie something negative, ie -20% you are going into reverse. Good eh! It doesn't end there either! If you right click on this green line you can adjust exactly where and how big velocities happen by adding a "Point" these are nodes to create a point at which speed and direction can be changed. This will give you reverse motion in your clip - and some!

2. Capture Still Images - Soooo easy!
Have an instance of your favourite Graphics package available. Back in V4 make Preview "Best". Just above the Preview pane where you can see your picture, you will see the "Copy Snapshot to Clipboard" - this is similar to the generic "Copy" icon found every where in Windows Apps - yeah? Click on this - switch to the graphics package - Go Paste and there you have it! Save in the flavour of file you want! - You could of course save it directly within Vegas as a PNG or JPG - these are the only flavours available so far within Vegas - what i've offered you here is a way to get it directly into your graphic package in one step, without the necessity to put an extra Vegas step - yeah?
