How to rotate MP4 video?

rickeb1 wrote on 12/8/2014, 11:05 PM
I am trying to make a DVD from an MP4 video shot with an Android phone. When viewed using Quicktime, the video is played sideways (playing the video with VLC media player, I can adjust the rotation so that it plays correctly). Inserting this MP4 into my DVD Architect project results in it playing sideways, just as it does in Quicktime. How can I change the properties such that the video will be rotated and played properly?

Thanks for any help!

That's something best done in Vegas/Movie Studio.

I'ts best not to use video directly from a camcorder in DVD Architect.

Steve,

Thanks for the reply! This is my first attempty at using this software, so can you give me a general idea of how to rotate the vide in Movie Studio? Is the idea to edit the original video to the correct rotation in Movie Studio, save the modified video, and then use the modified video in DVD Architect to create a DVD?

Thanks for your help!

The easiest way to rotate a video in Movie Studio is to add the clip to your timeline and then open the Pan/Crop tool and change the Rotation to 90 (or -90). Once you've done that, you can use Make Movie to output a DVD-ready file.

I've got a free 8 part Basic Training tutorial series for Movie Studio on my web site on the left side of this page: http://muvipix.com/sms13.php Included in these tutorials are instructions for outputtting for DVD Arch.

I've also got tutorials for DVD Architect Studio on my site and step by step books for each program on Amazon.com, if you need more detailed help.
