How to save the text media preset like the one that comes with Vegas?

Everytime I made the preset, it always save the text with it. If I apply my preset to the new text that I created, it will always overwrite the new text with the preset text. How do you save the preset with all the setting except the text?

That's what saving the preset does: it saves everything.

What you would want to do is drop/drag your preset onto the timeline & then edit the default text in that pre-set.

Even if you deleted the text before you saved the preset, you replace your text with the nothing when you applied it.
I usually save a short word with my preset and save under a descriptive name, like Eras 28 kursiv green if it's a general pupose preset or the title of the project if it's a specific design.
And like you noticed yourself, apply the preset before you write the text.
