Some time ago I somehow set the default audio crossfade type to the one where both audio programs remain high at the midpoint. Now, every time I do a dissolve I need to go in and select the linear fade instead. How do I get the linear fade to be the default?
I believe you choose the Options menu and press Shift before you choose Preferences. Then choose the Internal menu. The setting for the default fade type for audio and video are near the bottom of the list. eDefEnvAudioASRType is the value for audio I think.
As you can probably imagine, don't mess around here unless you know what you are doing. I sure don't. But this setting is really nice to have for those default fade types.
Thanks to all. Ral8667, you hit the nail on the head. I went into the Internal menu, and sure enough, close to the bottom was the "eDefEnvAudioASRType" value, which was defaulted to a value of 2. I changed the value to "1", and now when I do an audio crossfade the ramps are linear! Thanks!
I had thought there was a way to get to this change via the regular methods, but perhaps not.
Yeah, it seems like this would be a nice option to be in the menu. Maybe SoFo could make this setting easier to get to in a later update. But not a big deal.
What ever you do, be careful with those internal prefs settings. You can cause yourself some MAJOR grief that can only be resolved through a fresh install. Also, tech support will really frown on helping you to overcome such back door changes.
SonicPCH: I understand. I am always getting in trouble; I guess I'm the perpetual tinkerer. That's one reason why I love DriveImage so much: if I trash my system, I can be back in business 1 hour later.
The only two things that I have found useful in the internal menu are (1) the item mentioned in this thread, and (2) reducing the "snap width" from 7 to 3. This reduces the "snapping" effect so one can work closer to the snap points, yet the snap still occurs when in the immediate vicinity.
