How best can I change the playback speed of a project? I have several clips on the timeline and I wish to have all events play at 4x their normal speed. I wish to render the project with this 4x speed. Is there a way to do this without having to adjust each event separately?
I must not be following. If I right click on the timeline itself I get envelope options for Mute, Composite Level, and Fade to Color. Nothing available for velocity. The velocity envelope is available if I right click an event on the timeline but as I mentioned in my first post, I have several events on the timeline. I want to change the speed of the complete project without having to adjust each event individually.
You can also select all events in the track, Group them, then use velocity envelope to speed up the all events.
Chienworks mentioned on a previous thread: Time compression plus velocity envelope allows a 12x increase in one pass.
Arthur.S mentioned: The 'Rocket Speed' effect in Vegasaur allows you to take it even beyond that. You can set it by time too, so if you want it to timelapse in 30secs, just input 30secs. Excellent tool.
If you're really wanting exactly 4x, there's an incredibly fast and easy way to do this:
- Select all the events
- Press G to group them all.
- Ctrl-drag the end of the last event to the left as far as it will go.
Done.
This works because control-dragging changes the speed, dragging to the left makes it go faster, and Vegas' limit on this process is 4x. Grouping them first means they all speed up together so that you don't have to do each one individually.
Now, if you have 'take information' displayed, you can see the speed factor along the bottom of each event. If you want something less than 4x you can simply Ctrl-drag until you reach the value you want. 4x is the upper limit, but you can drag to anything from 4x to 0.25x.
