How to Speed Up Video

Two questions. First question. I have read the help and searched till I’m blue. I want to speed up part of a video. I have a split at the beginning and end of what I want to speed up, but I can’t find out anything on how to do it. All I come up with is trimming the video, and that’s not what I want to do. That, I can do.

Second question. The explorer window is grayed out the last few times I’ve opened Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. I have to open the Windows Explorer and drag the files from there. Why is my Explorer window in Vegas grayed out all the time now?

This is a Windows XP SP3 machine.

To speed up the video, hold the Ctrl key down and drag the right end of the event toward the left. The further you drag it, the faster it will play back, up to 4x.

Conversely, if you drag it out to the right it will slow down, to 0.25x.

Thank you. That seems to work. Thought I’d tried that last night. Playback is real jerky, but I’m hoping that will smooth out when I render it.

The Explorer window worked this morning when I opened Vegas. Weird. That is not consistent. Program opens with the Explorer grayed out more often than not, and this is a recent occurrence.
