How to split timeline clips with a hotkey by dragging with a mouse?

I need to split while dragging, not after releasing the mouse.

I think this is not implemented at the moment. The best, what you can do, is to drag the cursor with the mouse; release the mouse, BUT stay at the cursor; type "S"; pick again the cursor (and since you stayed at the cursor, that works fast.

What you would like to have ist to go through the footage, type S where you want a split; and continue immediately. That can be done during playback of the footage, but that works only with normal speed.

So I understand your desire, but that is not implemented in the software by now. And long-terms Vegas users will not miss it therefore I think because they are familiar with that behavior of the editor.

Exactly, that's what I'm looking for! This workflow is the best I know.

Well, at least you can do so as I have described it. Maybe the best at the moment what is possible.

However, I see also some advantage for the user, to be forced to release the mouse before he can make a cut. You will see very clear where the cut takes place. If you do that on the fly, for some users the cut could be positioned wrong by some frames. Maybe not for users like you, who are trained and looking for such a high-performance workflow. But maybe for other users. But it is interesting, I think

At the moment, you have two possibilities: either pick the cursor neer the top trangle (what allows only slower scrubbing), or more below (where you can scrub faster)

By me it works with faster speed too on V19, even at 4x :)

It even works with 20x speed (or 100x or faster, whatever you configured), assumed all Events are selected. But I see this workflow would not match the one desired. The only chance alice-f gets, is to use the given VP workflows.

Both correct. I do not use these modi a lot.
