how to turn of input monitor on new audio tracks

I have been trying to get rid of "input monitor" when adding audio tracks.
I have tried right clicking and setting the track default settings, but it keeps on showing up. It would be okay if it worked worth a darn on my machine but it doesn't.
What am i missing?

1.Right click the track header and make sure input monitor is unchecked under record inputs.
2.Now click set default track properties and make sure there's a check next to input monitor and then click ok. (you're telling it to set the input monitor the same as it's set in the current track)
