how to zoom in a straight line

I'm using 2 keyframes to zoom in on the left side of a still image but I want the zoom to go in a straight line. By default the zoom seems to waver to the left then back to the right as it zooming in. I've tried changing from 'linear' to 'fast' but still no success. Any ideas please? Thanks.

Try using track motion instead of pan/crop.

set Smoothness on both keyframes to zero when using Pan/Crop or Track Motion.
