How would I make this video clip b&w & keep the flowers?

I tried a mask but the video zooms in and can't seem to get vegas to let me move several nodes (not all) at once. Someone using FCP told me that there should be a sat filter somewhere and it should allow a specified sat through. I tried this with the cc secondary but can Isolate ONE color but not two (there seems to be yellow in the skin). Here's a snapshot

Have you tried the "passing multiple colors" technique from Edward's newsletter?

Don't be ashamed to use the Bezier Masking (along with that) to isolate what you want to isolate

Hmmm, I tried the parameters that you gave me but no dice. The flowers' centers are b&w also. This is what I got

I did try to use bezier mask but the clip zooms, and don't know hoe to more multiple nodes without having to mode/select them individually.

Hmmm.....I had a look at what you got and it's exactly what I got too....Personally I think it looks cool.

But good luck with that though.....

Yes of course, with the Bezier Mask, you'll have to key frame by frame if it moves too much.

Using the multi-color pass technique from my newsletter, I came up with this.

It could use a little more fine-tuning but I think this is in the ballpark. If you like this version, I can post the VEG file. It's at 17 tracks to this point and could probably use a few more to get some of the fringing on the edges.

17 ?!?

One of the biggest problems was that the yellow and the skin tones were so close to each other. I could get the yellow with no problem but then the ladies' arm and hand was also in color.

So, I took a look at adding a bunch of very small color ranges instead. Ended up with that image. (Still a small touch of color on one spot of the arm.)

I tried yesterday night by boosting the reds first and using Sepia fx and... and.... all sort of unimaginable solutions I could think of ( working on complementary colors, etc...) and like you said, the skin's too much in the same range of colors...

Here's the VEG file if you want to play with it.

Thanks to all, I ran into the skin tone issue and knew that there was a solution. Now to apply this to moving video.

You should be able to take my VEG file and drop the moving video onto each track as takes. Should work fine with moving video.
