How would you do this?

I've been editing a 30 minute capture. I've got a 5 second piece that I'd like to take into After Effects and do some ReTimer effects on.

Currently I open a new project and isolate the 5 second clip and export it. Then I import into After Effects and do my AE effects.

Is there a better way? I tried CTR-C to copy the clip and see if I could just paste it into After Effects. Didn't work. Is there some way to export a clip directly from an existing project? Do I have to do what I've been doing?

Any thoughts appreciated

Mark

Highlight the 5 seconds, render that section as uncompressed AVI. Load that file into AE, do what ever needs to be done, render that to uncompressed AVI. Now, load the new AVI back into Vegas.

If you have lots of ram and are able to open both VV and AFX you can try Satish's frame server plug-in and just frame serve from VV into AFX.

I could frameserve just that one clip? I use his frameserver all the time (into Procoder) but it's always on the entire project. How do you render just the one clip?

I think you just render "loop region" only.

Hope this helps.
