HP DVD 300i Problem

Arnarkon wrote on 4/23/2003, 11:35 AM
When I try to burn a DVD, it goes through the prepare process fine. But when it starts to burn the disk, it halts and returns the following error:

'SFMMCX'-(17)
'atapi'-(1)
-'HP DVD Writer 300n 1.25'-(1)
Module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1158
An illegal request was received.
The command is not allowed in the current operational mode.

Anyone had this happen? Solutions?

I have a WinXP on a P4 1.8mhz with 256 memory. Files rendered in Vegas 4.0 using the NTSC DVD template.

First of all, are you running 1.0b and have the lastest firmware updates in the drive?

Secondly, a search for "SFMMCX" returns 24 hits (of course, now it will be 25). Read all the threads associated with those hits.

You might try:
Preferences and then check "skip drive database, autodetect drive capabilities"

I had a similar problem early on with my DVD burner.
