HP8250i won't burn

I'm using cda 4.0g and win2k. I can play, read, and extract data/music from cd's using cda, but everytime I try to write a disc I get this error:

An illegal request was received.
An option was selected in the parameter list that is not supported by this drive.

Status: 00020202
Command: 55 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 00
Sense: 05 26 00
Info: 00 00 00 00
Specific: 00 00 00
Extra: 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

cda lists my drive as detected but will NOT burn to save its life...any suggestions? I've already tried turning dma/auto-run on/off. No difference. Tried different color media. Same. This drive is listed as a supported drive so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
It works great with all other cd burning software I've tried.

Hello:

Unfortunately CD Architect is not supported under Windows 2000 Pro. This means that the application has never been tested under the Win 2k operating system. Sorry for the bad news.

Ok, i also installed to WinME and the same thing happens. Does it not work under WinME either?

Many people on this board have successfully used CD-A under Win2k. Try making sure that your driver for the drive is current (visit the manufacturer's web site), and make sure you ASPI layers are current. For more info on this subject, visit:

http://www.fireburner.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000008

(This is a site for a different software burner, but covers the same subject.)

Good luck.

I also get the exact same error message using a HP9140i burner, and a Sony CRX145S SCSI unit.
This occurs using Windows ME.

Both burners work flawlessly with every burner software package I have ever tried including freeware ones.

I have also tried the Sony CRX145S under Windows NT4, and it does indeed burn, but for some 'REALLY' annoying reason it will only burn at 'Max' speed, which in the case of the above burner is '10x'.
This appears to be way too fast, and CD Architect stuffs up all the track indexes. I use the 'SCSI MMC' driver. If Sonic Foundry could resolve this problem, I would have an excellent burner.

For your interest tho, I have also used an HP8250i under Win98SE, and it works great.

I have exactly the same burner (HP8250i) and get the same message and I'm running CDA 4.0g with Win98SE. So (Dave), I really don't think the problem is on the OS. The problem must be on CDA...

I just installed an 8250i today and have been burning like mad! I've been holding on to CD-A for two years trying to find an affordable, compatible drive. I'm running 98se and haven't had any problems. I'm sad to hear that CD-A is no more - I plan on keeping an old computer loaded with SF 4.5, CD-A and the 8250i, just to make sure I have it available.
