HUI Compatibility

eopco wrote on 1/2/2003, 12:35 PM
Hello:
Does Vegas 3.0 have HUI compatibility? If not, I would love to see it in the next version. I have a Mackie Digital 8 Bus mixer. They just upgraded it to have HUI (Human User Interface) controls. It would be very nice to control Vegas directly from my mixer instead of a mouse. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks:

Short answer, no. Considering this is a major request amongst vegas users, myself included ( I use an 02r) lets hope it does get implemented.

the smartest of us here, who recieve new versions first and seem to have a say in the direction of the app, have expressed long ago that such things would just " clog up and bog down " the app, and if we knew what we were doing we wouldnt need this sort of thing, so along with auto input monitoring, discrete mono output routing, VST, MIDI and plugin delay compensation, dont hold your breath

It just seems to me that if Vegas has any chance of compeating with Slow Tools or Nuendo or the rest of the field, they will need to include things like HUI, or ASIO.

Your thoughts.

I couldn't agree more. But, sorry to say, SoFo's marketing certainly doesn't give the impression that competing with the major audio apps like PT, Nuendo, Logic, etc. is where they're going to be putting their resources. ;-(

I hope he isn't referring to me again to just spew some more nonsense that I never said? I pushed for this exact feature during the development of Vegas 3 beta testing. I have Dave Hill to vouche for me on this one. The first thing before I received a pre-release trial version of Vegas 3, Dave Hill said I would be very happy with the new audio features going into VV3. The first thing I asked Dave was, "Will I be able to connect my Yamaha 03D to it, so I can use the midi remote functions of my mixer to control the software with external hardware?".....Dave's reply was, "not likely in this release, but you'll love the new CD Architect features being implemented." I expressed my disappointment, and expressed how this was an eccential feature needed in Vegas, but I was happy to see the CD architect features.

If ignorance was Bliss, You would be King of the Bliss republic.

Dave, chime in here and tell him!!!!

I think it would be pretty darn nice to ride faders on some tracks. As long as it didn't completely bog things down - of course.

Since SoFo is going the way of the buffalo, I'd wait before I dumped money toward any SoFo app at this point.

So George, who's Pipe referring too? Me?...Maybe You?....or maybe even Charles? I think I have a pretty strong suspiction who he is talking about......It's ALL MY Fault, Vegas doesn't have HUI support!!! What a joke, that chump needs to get a grip on reality for once.

I've been pushing Dave since Vegas got video editing support, to implement my Video Filter idea, code name "Garment Remover". Maybe that's why we don't have HUI support? Dave's been listening to me and spending all his time working on that, so that one day we both can sit and watch Brittany Spears videos, where she's naked in "Baby one more time."

How's that coming along Dave? Along with that Vocal Remover plugin developement? :-)

Personally, I think he's talking about those morons who backed and sucked SF for so long on their bullheaded stance toward major improvments to an application. A handful of customers fighting alongside SF to keep a DYING vegas so trim and lean (read: confused customer justificatin of the lazy choice to not expand VV).
I don't buy anyones "don't worry about SF" game for a second. Disallusioned fools.
And Red, until you felt the sting of reality when it slapped you in the f-in face, you could be considered part of this confused group as well (maybe you still are judging by how you're replying to this post?).

It's those rubes and disallusioned diehards that jump for joy at a mediocre upgrade and helped continue a tone of complacency. What did you think - Dave or anybody at SF is gonna send you a free copy of something? Invite you to X-mas dinner soon?
What's with the fight?...if anything you should be PISSED OFF TO NO END on what the NEW SF has done and is doing to an app with potential.

Look at you SoFo diehards...
so hard you can no longer smell bullsh*t when it's under your noses. You're in a fog.

HUI support?
Forget it, along with every other suggested improvement made since. You better just hope at this point that the aquisition falls into the right hands.

What are you SF forum nazis gonna do if SF goes the way of the dodo as it's reading now? You gonna jump over to the Steinberg or Cakewalk forums and chastise all those who suggest improvements on their flagship app?
Yeah, you're a winner!

BTW: I'll repeat for the inept: You think I say these things because I didn't believe in Vegas (or what VV COULD have been)?

Wake up and smell your own bullsh*t. Quit ranting on this post as IF IT'S THE PROBLEM. Far as I see, the "new" SF and the moronic few spoken of here are the problem.

I wasnt talking about red, he's wanted midi control for faders for a long time, since Vegas 1 even

"the smartest of us here,"

noone's ever gonna accuse me of calling him smart

I was talking about our high holy resident Luddite everyone seems to make the big deal about, Mr. Roadblock, Mr. Anti progress, Mr. MyWayOrTheHiWay, he who spoke against everything we needed when something could have been done about it
