Hyper Threading not working all the time!

I have a P4 3.06 GHz computer that normally flies through a rendering process. Normally I can render a 1 hour video in about an hour (AVI to mpeg2 at the highest quality). During this rendering process my CPU usage is in the high 90% range which tells me Vegas is utilizing my machines hyper threading capabilities.

The problem is that when you use "Event Pan/Crop" to zoom in or rotate a scene it takes at least 100 times longer to render the same video! Also, when I render a video using the Event Pan/Crop functionality my CPU usage is only in the 50% range so I know it isn't using the optimized hyper threading functionality.

Does anyone else have a hyper threading P4 notice this?

Thanks,

Steve

My understanding is that hyperthreading isn't involved when rendering---of course, if you lay any fx onto an event its going to increase rendering time dramatically--particularly when you are going avi to mpeg. In other words, the more fx the longer the renders---Render when you go to bed--thats the advice that most have given or you could render with another instance of Vegas open--a case in which Hyperthreading will play a roll, although it wont increase the speed of the render.

I think that the hyper threading is working during the rendering because my CPU usage monitor is showing 90 to 100 % usage during the rendering. Any other program I use shows 50% usage during a number crunching event. I think when Vegas renders it utilizes the hyper threading by rendering the video and audio as two separate threads of execution, I may be wrong. One thing I know for sure is that this computer is about twice as fast as a 2.4 GHz P4 without hyper threading when I am rendering. A 600 MHz boost doesn't account for it pumping through the render twice as fast.
