I recently purchased vegas 6 and am trying to learn to use it. I have used power director 4 and have no trouble. I am having trouble with the text. I can't seem to make do nearly as much as I did in power director 4. I am sure their must be a way to do this. Should I buy the DVD on using vegas or can someone help. The sony manual is a little hard to understand and I don't really want to spend the extra $1oo bucks for the video.

So what are you trying/wanting to do?

I am trying to get text to do different things. Such as spiral across, pop up and fall, fade in and fade out. These are options that I have used in other programs such as power director 4. Will vegas let me do that ? If so , how.
Thanks for any help

Vegas can do simpler things directly or with Satish's wax a free plug in you can do things in 3D. For more advanced effects you can either import using something like BorrisGraffiti or some other Borris products. Graffiti comes with Vegas.

Tony,
Welcome to Vegas!
For Spiral Across, Pop Up and Fall, and Fades, you'll need to manually build those. They aren't presets like Power Director has.
Track motion and Pan/Crop will be used to spiral and popup/fall, and fades are as easy as placing your cursor over the upper left or upper right of the clip, and click/dragging to the left or right. This will make a small quarter circle in the media, which indicates a fade.
