i am connected to the computer, but it won't let me capture

ok so i have a sony digital 8 DCR-TRV530 and i connected it from the computer to the camera, but it will not let me capture the clips onto the computer. any ideas????

How are you connecting the camera to the computer? Are you using a firewire port?
