I am missing my scrolling bars

I just downloaded VS 8 because I was having many problems with VS7. I am happy with version 8 because I can view my HD clips much better with this version.

However, my screen is missing the horizontal and veritcal scroll bars on the right side and on the bottom of the timline. It is just a black bar instead of the scrolling bar. This is causing problems for me trying to scroll through my movie.

Any suggestions on how to get these bars back? I have been through all of the help screens, and cannot find anything.

Go to Options / Preferences. Under the General tab uncheck Enable Windows XP Theme support. Click OK. Exit and restart Vegas.

I was having the same problem with 7. I would shut down my computer and the next time it would have the scroll bars back again. The last time though I shut it down several times with no success. I tried the tip above and the scroll bars are back. I don't get it but thanks for the help. This board and the people on it are lifesavers!!!
