Can someone point me to a good tutorial on adjusting a flatscreen to monitor specs. I have a nice JVC SMPTE-C Hi Resolution monitor that I use for color correction, but use a large screen to audition work for customers. It would be great if these two images were "in the ballpark" of each other.

And ideally...be done without buying addtional equipment. I'm not looking for precision, just a general guideline.

not sure about "specs", but using some decent tools and eyeballing it gets you in the ball park

I've loaded some of these test patterns into vegas to "calibrate" what I am looking at while editing, and as unscientific as that sounds, seems to work great. At least for me. And I've gotten some compliments on my color corrections

And for quick generic setup, use any THX OPTIMIZATION program on many DVDs and BluRays
