I can't hear the audio

Gabs wrote on 12/14/2019, 12:46 PM

Hi!

I've been using Sony Vegas Pro

15 for a while now and I've had a few issues but always easily fixed because I was just getting the hang of things. But today I tried to start editing but my audio isn't working. I play it in the media player and it worked fine so it's not my speakers in my laptop or the audio itself. I tried using past "skeletons" of projects and they aren't playing either. I have no idea what happened. Send help.

Which "MediaPlayer" are you using in MVP 15?

Has nothing to do with Vegas and Vegas is no Player but an Edit program, that is normally looking after proper installed codecs to handle and so can decode video- and audiofiles.
So look with MediaInfo what exactly the type of audio is you are using and if Vegas supports that codec and settings. If not you can try to install on your hardware the right codec.

I'm not sure how to find the codec but I did find the format which was MPEG Layer -3 which I think isn't compatible with Sony but I'm not sure

Upon a google search I found out how to find the codec but the codec appears as a dash "-"

Check or experiment with different audio device settings "Options> Preferences> Audio Devices".

Sometimes other apps will hold a device open so it becomes inoperable in VP, but usually that is accompanied by an error message..

Do all files exhibit the same behavior, even PCM <.wav> audio files? If PCM files play and some lossy types do not, it is a codec issue.
