I can't open Vegas

Okay, I use Vista, and whenever I try to run the program, it crashes when it tries to initialize the DirectX plug-ins. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Also, the version is Platnium 8.0

Upgrade to the latest version of Vegas and hope for the best. This is a bug that happens pretty often from what I have seen online.
