I can't render to DVD widescreen mpeg2 in V12.

I don't know if it is just me, but I can't do a DVD mpeg2 render from HD in V12, at least not in my current project. The HD project is 1920x1080 and it hangs at the 14th frame of a XDCAM .mp4 mpeg2 clip (which should be one of the easiest formats for Vegas to deal with). I am currently rendering out a Cineform master to then rerender down into the DVD template mpeg2. Frustrating.

Sounds like it may be hanging exactly at the end of the first GOP?

Don't know if it might be an index error, but you could try smart-rendering the original clip and using that in its place.

I, too, get crashes when rendering to DVD Architect DVD file (720x480) in Vegas 12. My source files are all Sony HDV (1440x1080) I can get it rendered, sometimes with no problem, but sometimes Vegas will crash during the render & it may take 3 or 4 tries to get the project to render. I never have a problem rendering to a Blu-Ray file... only DVD.
If I use Nu-Blu titler, I get stuck on a frame with a title on it (different frame every time) when I render to DVD. No problems when rendering to Blu-Ray.
I wander if Vegas 12 has a problem withe DVD's. I never had this problem in version 10.

Almost forgot. My crashes are only when going to DVD WS. I recently did 2 weddings which were recorded on 4x3 ascpect 720x480 DV cam. I rendered those to DVD with no problems. I did not try to use Nu-Blu Titler 2.0 on these projects. Since the titler always gives me problems, I only (occasionally) try using it after I have finished a project if I have a little time. For projects I must get finished, I use Sony Legacy & Sony Pro titlers. No problems with those.

I just ran into this problem, footage is from a Sony EX1.

If I render one event from the timeline shot at 1920 x 1080 23.976fps, V12 will stall at 0% upon rendering to 720 x 480 widescreen.

But an event shot at 29.97fps will render fine to 720 x 480 widescreen.

I managed to copy paste my project in V11 and it rendered fine with the 23.976 events.
I guess this is a bug.

Unfortunately, this problem still exists even though it's over six months from the start of this thread. I'm also trying to render a rather complex project that renders just fine to 1080i AVC; but every time I try to render it to widescreen DVD MPEG-2 for import into DVD Architect, it stutters really slowly for a while then kills the entire program.

I might as well submit a bug report to Sony, seeing as how they apparently do not follow these forums. I'm glad that I still have 11 installed, but it's a really complex project so I'll probably have to use 11 to re-render the AVC file.

Though it does not sound to be related to this problem you should re-try rendering after having deselected Long GOP Render in Options/Preferences/General. It often helped in similar cases.

What I do is make your project 1280x720. This size scales near perfectly to 720x576 widescreen.

I generally set my project properties to SD Widescreen for this sort of thing. Then the project doesn't even have to scale.
