I feel stupid! Help?

Whatever I put into the video track looks and plays fine. Then when I apply an fx effect, it only seems to affect the top one-third, and the bottom one-third of the frame. In the middle there seems to be a large rectangle that is unaffected by the fx effect. I am using the NTSC DV (720x480, 29.970 fps) template.

How do I get the effect to do the whole frame?

What switch or button is turned on/off that is causing this oddity?

Thank you anyone, who helps.

Larry

At a guess you've got FX preview turned on - the split screen icon above the preview window. FX bipassed setting should sort it out.

(This feature is very good for viewing before/after FX comparisons, or matching up to another clip, which is probably the rectangle you are seeing.)

Thank you very much. I still feel dumb, but have finally worked on it so I think I understand the different seettings in/on that button. So much to learn, so little time.

Please have a nice evening and weekend.

and again THANK YOU!
