Vegas has a powerful way to customize the view of all the windows .. In the Vegas Help search "windows layout" .. You can save the setting you are on and the Go back to the default settings -- View/Windows Layout/Default Layout .. The windows layout can change when you accidently hit a shortcut key -- going back to your customized setting is easy if you have saved one.

It's the audio bus track. Turn it off in the View menu

On the View Menu, look for Audio and Video Bus Tracks being checked.

Notice it only takes the letter "B" to enable an Audio Bus Track.
