Every time I go to edit my movie and try to render my footage it freezes and sends the error message or stays on 3% and never moves for hours

I had this problem when rendering large-ish projects (also on Platinum 17), although for me it froze at around 30%. At the time, I only had 8GB of RAM. So I updated my PC to 16GB and that solved the problem.
