I have Vegas PRO and have a few questions about it...

I have Vegas Pro v1.0a and was wondering if it was the best
piece of software for recording/mastering music that my band
(The Ripple Effect) plays. We are consisted of 3
Guitarists, 1 Bassist, 1 Flutist, 1 Aux. Percussionist and
have various people in the group that do vocals as well.
Please let me know if this is the best thing for recording
and mastering a demo tape or cd. Also since I already have
it, I would like to know how to use the multiple tracks to
my advantage since we are not using MIDI. I am not sure how
I can record multiple tracks for editing and mastering into
my computer and how recording them and aligning them would
work. Please give me some pointers and let me know if there
is somewhere I should be looking for help on this. Thank
you very much.

Vegas pro is an awesome tool set for multitrack audio. It basically
works just like a tape deck, only it works with your hard
drives/computer. Your question is pretty open ended. What kind of
digital audio input or analog converter input do you have? That will
have a tremendous bearing on what you can easily or not so easily do.
Depending on processor speed, RAM, and hard drive ability/speed, you
can record almost unlimited numbers of tracks. I have a project up
right now that is 64 tracks of audio. But I'm running a PIII750 w/1
gig ram, on 124 gigs of LVD/SCSI hard drives.
leaving your system info, and configuraton of what you are trying to
do will more easily assist someone in finding more specific answers
to your question.
