Whether or not this is even possible I wouldn't like to say. However, this is a good creative idea in my opinion.
A more general implementation of this is the idea of an AUDIO CUE POINT placed on the video event or transition so that you can easily align the two. This is important because it can be quite tricky (and slow) to align a "beat" somewhere in the middle of an audio event to a visual cue somewhere in the middle of a video event. You can use markers, but not quickly or easily.
Having some way to time SFX in a transition is ok. What I usually do is count the frames. I usually work in 30FPS and usually do half a second transitions which is 15 frames so I either crossfade the clips into each other until it says 15, or cross fade the end of a single clip before dropping the transitions in. Then I usually place a marker and place the sound at the beginning of the transition. Also some new transitions would be nice, I don't think they've changes since I started using movie studio 8 in 2007.
