Win 98 is no prob here.Reinstall vegas and slowly add your plugins to
see if any of these could be causing probs. If all is well then I
would guess ram.Any otherprograms on rig?Word, etc?
I totally believe if you are using your rig for audio you should not
have all your everyday software on it as well.Audio goods only!
Computers are cheap enough to have a second one strictly for internet
games,etc.
:-)
I hope these helps.
Let us know.

Yes, I would definitely recommend uninstalling and re-installing. I
have win98SE with vegas 1.0b and have no problems either. What sound
crad/drivers?

Charles.

whether it's the 1st edition or the 50th edition, i'm always shocked
to hear people say they have no problems w/ win9x (especially 98).
the post before this one made it sound like walking on thin ice, by
slowly installing and uninstalling apps. just throw NT on and put all
u're apps on and just try to crash it. i can use vegas, photoshop AND
word @ the same time w/o a glitch. why waste u're time w/ an
inferior, made just to please the average user os.

Chris is right as far as nt goes it is a true 32bit system for audio
software products.I have two machines one with vegas/ win98 and one
with sawpro /nt .Most people have machines that run to many
apps.either in the background or virus protectors that kill
performance. This is normal.I have never had probs with 98 and
vegas;also running dual moniters on 98!Just make sure to keep your
system free of these animals also rule 1# for every studio I've work
in is that all recording rigs are audio dedicated machines only!!No
other software but recording related.Vegas still should have no probs
with 98,nt just gives first priority to 32bit software which is good
which makes it stable, but when it crashes...look out!!Make sure to
ghost the drives.Service packs have also killed my nt afew times.
I agree with chris though, but like I said it runs good on 98.
:-)
Happy mixing...
